Gina Carano is an American fitness model and former mixed martial artist who acted as Cara Dune for the first two seasons of The Mandalorian from 2019 to 2020. She was a potential breakout action hero before controversy with her tweets caused the Disney+ Star Wars show to let her go in early 2021. The actress has been making headlines after finally settling her wrongful termination lawsuit against Lucasfilm and Disney, following a years-long court battle. Read on to know more.

What Happened With Gina Carano And Disney

Gina Carano had accused Disney and Lucasfilm of firing her unfairly for her personal political opinions, which she made on social media. Elon Musk supported her lawsuit via legal aid extended by X (formerly Twitter), terming it as part of his wider mission to champion free speech.

In a statement posted on X, Gina wrote:
“I have reached an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm that I believe is the best for all involved. I hope that this brings some healing to the force.”

Lucasfilm also confirmed the resolution in a different statement, saying that, “Ms. Carano was always highly regarded by her directors, co-stars, and employees, and she worked hard to master her craft and treated her colleagues respectfully. With this lawsuit behind us, we are excited to look for ways to collaborate with Ms. Carano in the near term.”

Nothing is official, but this has rekindled speculation among the fans that she could be back in the Star Wars universe, perhaps in The Mandalorian or other spin-offs. Gina’s character was written out in Season 3 quietly, with the plotline that Cara Dune had been hired by the New Republic Special Forces after she turned over Moff Gideon.
