Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan have united for a touching yet inspiring film titled Ghoomer. The film is R Balki directorial, and the film also stars Angad Bedi and Shabana Azmi in prominent roles. The poster of this film showed Saiyami Kher playing a cricketer who loses her right hand in an accident, and with it, all her hope of ever playing for team India. But Abhishek Bachchan steps in as her coach to train her and instil confidence in her. The trailer of Ghoomer was dropped on August 4, and here are more details about it.

Throughout the entire Ghoomer trailer, you hear Abhishek Bachchan’s voiceover where he talks about his failures as a cricket player and that he could not be successful. On the other hand, Saiyami Kher is static to have been selected for team India but her dreams her crushed when her right hand has to be amputated after she gets in an accident. Abhishek Bachchan takes up the responsibility of training Saiyami Kher.

The trailer was hard-hitting because of Saiyami and Abhishek Bachchan. The two are going to deliver a stellar performance and you can see it in the trailer itself. Abhishek Bachchan as the coach has said some of the most cruel dialogues to Saiyami Kher. He is not sympathising with her one bit, only motivating her to stop crying over her disability and focus on her strengths. The film’s name Ghoomer is also based on Saiyami’s bowling technique as she spins and bowls.

This film might just be Saiyami’s career best so far. It is hard to imagine how she would have trained with her left hand for the film. She is seen pulling water from the well and cutting lemons with her non-dominant hand as she trains with Bachchan. The trailer itself brought tears to my eyes seeing Kher and Bachchan.

Catch Ghoomer in theatres on August 18, 2023.
