Gaurav Khanna Quits Anupamaa, Opens Up About Rumoured Rift With Co-Star Rupali Ganguly!

After the exit of many prominent actors from the popular show Anupamaa, the recent 15-year leap marked the exit of some more. But the fate of Anuj Kapadia, played by Gaurav Khanna remained a mystery. After he disappeared from the sets for 2 months, the actor finally addressed his future on the show. He revealed that while he and the director Ranjan Shahi discussed his return, the storyline had to progress and that he wouldn’t be on the show for a while.

Gaurav Khanna Reveals His Future On Anupamaa

During a recent interview with ETimes, Gaurav Khanna stated that people had been constantly asking him about his return on Anupamma. He said that he and the director had discussed the possibility of a grand re-entry for his character and that they even waited for 2 months to materialise it.

He further added, “However, the storyline had to progress, and waiting no longer made sense. He, too, felt it was time for me to explore something bigger.” Gaurav Khanna remarked that for now, the chapter of Anuj Kapadia had been closed. However, he said that this would not be the end, if the story demanded and his schedule allowed, he would be happy to return.

He revealed that his character was supposed to be a 3-month cameo but turned out to be a turning point for him. When asked about the rumours of a rift between him and lead star Rupali Ganguly, he stated that he did not believe in responding to rumours.

In his words, “What matters is the work we’ve created together. I’ve always focused on my craft, and what happens beyond the ‘action’ and ‘cut’ is secondary.”
