I think that out of all the movies that have recently been released Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the most anticipated ones. Rightfully so! After delays in a release date due to Covid, people were more than open to seeing a glimpse of what this Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie had to offer. After releasing the video to ‘Dholida’ Gangubai Kathiawadi has also released their new song ‘Jab Saiyaan’ sung by Shreya Ghoshal and music by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself. ‘Jab Saiyaan’ features Alia Bhatt and Shantanu Maheshwari and alludes to a possible romantic relationship for Gangubai.
I personally loved this song. To be fair, I am a sucker for Hindustani classical music and love songs that fall under similar tunes and beats, which ‘Jab Saiyaan’. The lyrics penned down by A M Turaz are soulful and hit deep. Seriously though, pull up the lyrics and read them properly. The poeticism is simply exquisite! I know that ‘Jab Saiyaan’ will be on my playlist on repeat for a while.
Singer Shreya Ghoshal has posted the song on Twitter with the most heartfelt caption ever which reads, “From my debut to 20 years later, nothing makes me happier than singing a song for Sanjay Leela Bhansali Sir. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate 20 years in the industry”

While I have been looking forward to watching Gangubai Kathiawadi since it was first announced, all the crumbs we’re getting through the ‘Jab Saiyaan’ music video is making me even more excited. I don’t know about you guys but I will be at the theatre on February 25, 2022, all ready for Gangubai Kathiawadi.
