Every film and web series is open to criticism; however, if the topic is based on real-life events, the audience becomes more attentive. Whether the makers get it factually right or not becomes the talk of the town. Well, this discussion leads to a controversial issue and receives backlash from the audience. On being asked about the pressure and backlash, here’s what Freedom at Midnight actors Ira Dubey and Arif Zakaria told!
Arif Zakaria On Portraying The Role Of Muhammad Ali Jinnah
In an exclusive interview, we asked Arif Zakaria how he dealt with the pressure of portraying Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Freedom at Midnight. He said, “I just wanna add that there’s more drama outside than the book. It’s always more drama which has happened and when you try to recreate that I am sure it gets diluted so that debate doesn’t really hold. And the book is very Shakespearean I think, it’s got tragedy, it’s got death if you look at it from another perspective. So, all that goes into a good Shakespearean play if you have watched is perhaps they magnify the little because of the diversity of the subject and number of characters but it is a great Shakespearean tragedy because of how it ended and how we are products of that end.”

Ira Dubey On Portraying The Role Of Fatima Jinnah
“Anything good that comes out should spark some discussion and like Nikkhil sir said it will always be like everyone knows what’s good and bad. Nobody can control how people receive the material. But, I think the beauty of doing something historical even though there is a source material which is this fantastic book is that there are so many lenses through which you can look at a historical story. The beauty of creating as filmmakers and actors is that middle area, what happened between these two people whom we know so much about but don’t know so much about. Isn’t that what art is? That’s what’s exciting!
