In an interview, she said that among countless trainees, the ‘Slow Dancing’ singer instantly gave her goosebumps the moment he walked in and she knew he was special and “the one”. On March 6, Oricon News published an interview with Kim Mi-jeong, who worked as a producer and talent recruiter for BIGHIT MUSIC. She shared her memories of spotting Kim Taehyung during a chat about trainees who left the biggest impression on her. She explained that she had seen many young people try out over the years. Most did not make it to debut, and far more hopefuls failed than succeeded. Still, one meeting stood out clearly in her mind. That special moment came when she first saw the singer known for songs like Love Me Again.
Kim Mi-jeong described how, early in her career, she often travelled to different areas to find new talent. In one case, she visited a place where not many young people showed up for auditions. She asked to see some photos from past events instead. One picture caught her attention right away because of the bright, full smile on the boy’s face.
When Kim Taehyung walked into the room in person, she instantly felt sure about him. She knew right then that he was the perfect fit for what the company needed. Later, when she called to inform him that he had passed the audition, he sounded surprised and asked if it was real or perhaps a trick.
