There are very few films that leave a hard-hitting message for the audience without being loud and preachy. And after a long, we saw a film like that from Aamir Khan’s production titled Laapata Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao. The film presented subtle commentaries on patriarchy and also revolved around a heartwarming old-school romance. However, some surprising revelations have been made about the film by director Ananth Mahadevan. He opened up about the similarities between Laapata Ladies and his 1999 film Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol!
Ananth Mahadevan’s Revelations About Laapata Ladies’ Scenes Copied From THIS 1999 Film!
Filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan in his recent interview spoke about some similarities between Laapataa Ladies and his 1999 film Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol. The filmmaker pointed out that even in his film, the lead goes to a village, gets married and his bride gets swapped at the railway station. He also stated that the scene in Laapataa Ladies when the police could not identify the woman because of the ghoonghat looked very much inspired by his film. As per the interview, Ananth Mahadevan made another shocking claim about his film Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol randomly disappearing from YouTube. He made strong claims about the film’s plot and scenes being taken from his 1999 film. The filmmaker further added that he had not spoken to Aamir Khan or Kiran Rao about this as he assumed they would deny such similarities, but he feels honoured that Laapataa Ladies is somewhere inspired by his film.
Well, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have not yet addressed these claims.
