From Rooh Baba To Chhote Pandit, 7 Of Our Fav Characters From The Bhool Bhulaiyaa Franchise

The Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise has become a cultural phenomenon, blending horror, comedy, and mystery in a way that keeps us entertained from start to finish. From spine-tingling ghost stories to laugh-out-loud antics, this series has given us memorable characters who each bring something unique to the table. Whether it’s the comic genius of Akshay Kumar’s Dr. Aditya or the chilling transformation of Vidya Balan into Manjulika, these characters are etched in our memories. Here are our top 7 favourite characters from the franchise,

1) Akshay Kumar as Dr. Aditya Shrivastav

Who could forget Dr. Aditya, the eccentric psychiatrist who’s more about laughs than the usual serious doctor role? Akshay Kumar’s comic timing here is on point, especially when he tries to confront the ghost with his quirky dance to Ami Je Tomar. Dr. Aditya’s quick-witted charm and unorthodox approach make him the OG ghostbuster we didn’t know we needed.

2) Rajpal Yadav as Chhote Pandit

Rajpal Yadav’s Chhote Pandit is absolutely hilarious! As a small-town priest with big superstitions, he brings endless laughs with his naive reactions to the ghost situations. Watching him get tangled up in all the paranormal shenanigans, trying to help while totally clueless, is pure comic gold. His expressions and reactions are a riot, especially during the exorcism scenes.

3) Rasika Joshi as Janki Batukshankar Upadhyay

Janki is hands down one of my favourite BB characters and nobody could replace her. She’s the no-nonsense elder who clashes with Dr. Aditya in the funniest way possible. That scene with her and Akshay, involving Akshay asking her for her towel is iconique. Janki’s blend of sass and shock makes her moments on screen an absolute treat.

4) Vidya Balan as Manjulika

Vidya Balan’s Manjulika is haunting in the best way. Playing both the sweet Avni and the fierce, vengeful spirit Manjulika, she pulls off the transformation flawlessly. That scene where she does the Manjulika dance and reveals her true form? Absolute chills. Vidya created one of Bollywood’s most unforgettable horror characters terrifying and iconic in every way and probably why she is reprising it in BB3.

5) Tabu as Manjulika in BB2

Tabu brings her own style to Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Her calm yet intense aura adds a fresh edge to the spirit’s legacy. She’s bone-chilling without even trying too hard! There’s this scene where she just freezes Rooh Baba in fear with a look it’s pure horror gold.

6. Paresh Rawal as Batukshankar Upadhyay

Paresh Rawal as Batukshankar is hilarious as the superstitious family head who’s determined to keep the evil out of the house. His no-nonsense stance on the ghost drama around him is part of what makes him so funny. His banter with Chhote Pandit and his constant struggle to keep things under control are pure comedy.

7. Kartik Aaryan as Rooh Baba

Rooh Baba, played by Kartik Aaryan, is the modern-day ghostbuster in BB2. Rooh Baba tackles ghosts like he’s taking on an everyday problem, hack he created to save his life. His scene where he tries to chat with spirits is a total laugh fest!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 starring Kartik Aaryan, Tripti Dimri, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit is slated to release on November 1, 2024.
