Fatima Sana Shaikh Says Female Actors Are Easily Replaceable Because They Don’t Bring Lot Of Money. Errm, Really?
Fatima Sana Shaikh recently shared her thoughts on the challenges female actors face in Bollywood!

Fatima Sana Shaikh, who is gearing up for her next film Aap Jaisa Koi alongside R Madhavan, recently shared her thoughts on the challenges female actors face in Bollywood. While expressing her excitement about working with Madhavan, she also opened up about how the industry treats male and female stars differently, especially when it comes to their bankability.
Fatima Sana Shaikh On Female Actors Being Replaced
According to Fatima, leading male actors are often repeated in films because they bring in bigger box office numbers, making them more valuable to filmmakers. She pointed out that actors like Shah Rukh Khan continue to be cast in multiple projects because their presence guarantees an audience. In contrast, she believes that very few female actors hold the same level of commercial power, which is why they are not given the same kind of repeat collaborations.
She acknowledged that there are successful female stars like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Kangana Ranaut who have managed to establish themselves as bankable names, but their numbers are still relatively low compared to their male counterparts. This, she feels, is one of the main reasons why female actors in Bollywood are easily replaceable.
Fatima, who recently wrapped up Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino, also reflected on her collaboration with the filmmaker. Having worked with him earlier in Ludo, she expressed her eagerness to continue being a part of his projects, even if it means taking on smaller roles. Despite the delays the film has faced, she emphasized that Basu is someone who prioritizes quality over rushed releases, especially when managing a film with an ensemble cast.
Her perspective sheds light on an ongoing debate in Bollywood, why do male actors continue to dominate the industry while female actors struggle to maintain long-term commercial viability? While the industry has seen progress in recent years, the gap between male and female stardom remains a stark reality, making Fatima’s observations all the more relevant.
