This happened very close to the big stadium where one of Koreaās most famous award shows, the 2025 MAMA Awards, is scheduled to take place this Friday and Saturday.
The MAMA Awards is a massive event full of singing, dancing, and joy, and many stars like Park Bo Gum, Stray Kidsā Felix, CORTIS, MEOVV, and others were ready to perform. Fans from all over the world bought tickets and flew to Hong Kong. But now everyone is asking if the show would still go on.
According to MyDaily, organisers stated that the show will happen, but it will be very quiet and simple. There might be no loud cheering, no colourful fireworks, and maybe no audience at all. They want to respect the people who are suffering. Some fans agree, while others say it is better to cancel the show for now.

Iām sorry but this is so disrespectful to those people who perished.ā Another user, @xinlongnet, said, āi understand why some people are upset with this decision, but from a logistics and financial point of view, itās hard to postpone.ā However, others said that it will be difficult to postpone or cancel.
As per The Korea Herald, right now, government workers are too busy helping rescue teams and families. Meetings about the awards keep getting delayed. No one has given a final answer yet.
