The recent K-drama Idol I portrays this exact situation, featuring Kim Jae Young, who plays the role of a K-pop idol who becomes the target of obsessive fans. Upon its airing, BTS fans could not help but notice how certain scenes of the drama parallel exactly the situations BTS Jungkook has been subjected to. The conversation attracted more attention after Jay Young was seen liking a post pointing out the similarities between the character and Jungkook.
Is Kim Jae Young’s K-drama Idol I About BTS Jungkook?
In Idol I, Kim Jae Young plays the role of Do Ra Ik, who becomes the target of obsessive fans (sasaengs) and has to deal with their extreme behaviour. His privacy is invaded by sasaengs who break into his home and steal his belongings.
When the drama started airing, many K-pop fans could relate to Ra Ik’s plight as they had witnessed their favourite artists go through the same things. However, ARMYs felt that the drama was directly inspired by BTS Jungkook’s life, as it parallels the exact things that he has gone through.
After the first two episodes of Idol I were released, someone made an Instagram reel highlighting the parallels the drama had with BTS Jungkook’s life, which soon went viral. Even Kim Jae Young, the show’s lead actor, was seen liking the reel, which seemingly confirmed where the K-drama had taken its inspiration from.

Following Jungkook’s military discharge in June, multiple sasaengs tried breaking into his home. A woman in her 30s was even arrested for attempting to pass through his door’s security code and enter the idol’s house. Sasaengs have been seen lurking outside his residence many times as well.
