He shared a video from @reformedbychrist. The video had a caption, “Nigerian Christians refuse to give up their faith after Islamists burnt their church to the ground.”
The post caused a wave of backlash from fans, who called it harmful. Many accused the K-pop idol of spreading negativity and overlooking other global conflicts. They also called out Siwon’s selective focus.
One netizen pointed out his silence on attacks against churches in Palestine. Another netizen criticised him for seeking attention, with some pushing the hashtag #SIWON_OUT.
Many fans expressed disappointment and questioned his judgement and whether he understood the weight of his actions.
Previously, he posted an Instagram Story about Charlie Kirk, an American political figure who had passed away. The post included a photo of the political figure with the caption “REST IN PEACE CHARLIE KIRK” and another image with a Bible verse. Later, the K-pop idol removed both posts but fans had already captured screenshots.
Many accused the K-pop idol of endorsing Charlie Kirk’s views. Well, netizens’ reaction to it was intense. Some even brought up the K-pop group’s past controversies. But it wasn’t all negative.

Some fans came to his defence and stated that he meant no harm. Siwon also addressed the backlash. He responded to a post in which the fans wrote, “We Hate You Forever, Siwon,” with a simple “I love You. This only made things worse.
