After the casting announcement, a few fans of K-pop group ZEROBASEONE went back to old posts from the webtoon creator. They found moments where the creator had mentioned Jiwoong, like sharing one of his albums during a live session. Fans took these as signs that the male lead’s look and personality drew inspiration from Jiwoong and it made rounds online. This made many feel that the K-pop idol matched the character perfectly, almost as if the role had been created with him in mind. They expressed sadness and said it felt like a missed chance to see their favourite idol bring the character to life on screen.

One user wrote, “The main lead was literally inspired by jiwoong I wonder why they had to choose someone who’s over 30 to play someone in his 20s.”
Still, not everyone agreed with the fans. Other people pointed out important details from the original story. The character, a successful third-generation businessman, is described as being in his 30s. Hence, Lee Jong Suk seems to fit that age and vibe much better. Jiwoong, being in his 20s, might not align as closely with the role’s requirements.
