This race’s venue holds special memories for the McLaren clan as they ended their 26-year constructors’ title drought. Oscar Piastri leads the Formula One Drivers’ Championship for the first time following a strong outing in Saudi Arabia, albeit only by 10 points over Lando Norris and 12 points over Verstappen. Mercedes will expect to be more competitive with George Russell, who is 26 points behind Piastri in the championship. Norris, who won by 7.612 seconds over Verstappen last year, will try to repeat his success at the Miami International Autodrome circuit.
Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen will also not be attending the Media day at the Miami Grand Prix as he is expecting the birth of his first child with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet. However, he is expected to be at the track in time for practice on Friday. Since Miami is an F1 sprint event, Friday will feature just a single practice session before qualifying for the sprint race that will take place that afternoon.
