Dr Rajesh Parikh, an OBGYN for nearly three decades, argued that promoting egg freezing is easy for the wealthy, but the procedure and IVF are extremely costly and often inaccessible for most women. He said he regularly sees couples endure failed cycles, emotional distress, heavy expenses and lingering trauma, adding that biology doesn’t adjust to career timelines. Another user commented, “This is so tone deaf. She can afford to treat marriage as optional bc Upasana is indeed the granddaughter of Pratap C Reddy, founder of Apollo Hospitals, which is one of India’s largest private healthcare empires.”

Upasana took to Instagram to question why a woman’s choices about love, marriage, and motherhood are so often judged, whether it’s marrying for love, waiting for the right partner, or deciding when to have children based on her own life and career. She clarified that she married for love at 27, chose to freeze her eggs at 29 for personal and health reasons (not at Apollo), had her first child at 36 and is now expecting twins at 39. This, she said, was her way of encouraging women to understand their options.
Wrapping up her note, she stressed that she has always balanced her career and marriage equally, and that creating a stable, happy environment matters deeply to her. For her, both career and marriage hold equal value — and she alone decides her timeline, which she sees as a right, not a privilege.
