Variety shows are incredibly popular in South Korea. From actors to K-pop idols, many celebrities star on these shows to promote their upcoming projects. These shows are also famous for their diverse concepts, from drinking shows, quizzes; they never fail to entertain. However, recently, two EXO members, Kai and Sehun, have come under fire for their behaviour on the show Call Me Baby. Read on to know more.
EXO’s Kai and Sehun Under Criticism For “Traumatising” Kid
EXO members Sehun and Kai were hit with major criticism after they appeared on the Call Me Baby show. The show’s concept revolves around guests interacting with Yoo Yijin, a kid, and fans love it as they like to see their favourite K-pop idols interact with kids purely and adorably.
EXO’s Kai and Sehun recently starred on the show, and while most of their interactions were playful and innocent, one particular moment is enraging netizens. G-IDLE Miyeon was the next guest on the show after the EXO members, and when she gently tried to touch Yijin’s foot, he seemed taken aback.
The crew then revealed that in the last episode, Kai and Sehun tried to bite his foot jokingly, but it made a lasting impact on the child, and he got scared. Miyeon instantly understood and said, “So that’s why he’s traumatised.”
The moment was brief; however, it angered viewers. People called out Kai and Sehun for their “creepy” behaviour towards Yijin and criticised them for not respecting the child’s boundaries. Netizens were also angry at the show makers in general because they felt that using a kid so young for content is not right.
People said that Yijin is too young to be starring on an entertainment show, and the entire concept feels unethical. Till now, neither SM Entertainment, EXO’s company, nor the show’s production team have commented on the controversy.
