In India women already have to struggle so much just to reach the same place as a man and if she does better than him in terms of success that adds another load on her. And it is prevalent in India where men often feel threatened or intimidated by a woman who is doing better than them. In an exclusive conversation with Hauterrfly’s In Bed With Shenaz, shot at Hyatt Centric located in Juhu, Taare Zameen Par actress Tisca Chopra opened up about the same.

Tisca Chopra On Men Feeling Threatened By Women’s Sucess

When asked if men can feel threatened by a woman’s success, Tisca unequivocally affirmed that they can. She explained that it depends on the level of threat the man feels. If a man is slightly threatened, it’s something that can be managed, but if his insecurity leads him to gaslight or bring the woman down, that’s a serious red flag. Tisca said, “Well, if the guy is just slightly threatened, it really depends on the level of threat. You might like him, but if he’s trying to gaslight you and bring you down, that’s a major red flag. Feeling a bit jealous is normal, especially if things aren’t going great for him. You might think,Why are good things happening to you and not to me? It’s natural to feel that way when you’re in the same environment.”

However, Tisca pointed out that the key is to articulate these feelings and have an open conversation about them. Bringing these issues to the surface and thrashing them out can help. But, if the person is intent on pulling you down to his level, it’s a clear sign to run. For Tisca, that’s a deal-breaker.

Her perspective is something many women can relate to. The idea is to recognize when a partner’s insecurity crosses into unhealthy territory. Tisca’s advice underscores the importance of communication and maintaining one’s self-worth. If a partner’s insecurity is causing issues, addressing it openly is crucial. But if his response is to undermine your success, it’s time to reconsider the relationship. This interview highlights the broader societal issue of gender dynamics and the unique challenges women face in both their professional and personal lives. Tisca’s insights remind women to stand firm in their achievements, understand their value, and strive for relationships built on mutual respect and understanding.
