In the latest episode of The Male Feminist, actress Sheeba Chadha talks about the resistance she faced at home when she said she wanted to pursue acting.
In the latest episode of The Male Feminist with host Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Sheeba Chadha talked about the struggles she faced to pursue theatre in Delhi. She said, “I belong to a business family, Arts see much lena, dena nahi.” So, her parents were quite shocked when she mentioned she wanted to do theatre.
Talking about how she had to let go of a prominent role, Sheeba Chadha said, “There is a Guru of cinema whose name is Kumar Shahani and he was making a film on khayal-gaayaki and I had gotten the role of Sohni Mahiwal in the film.” Sheeba went on to talk about how her mother told her to not come home if she would say to do that role. And that is how she had to let go of the role at that time.
Sheeba Chadha also went on to add that she understands the safety aspect that her parents came from and that the thought of her returning home late at night after rehearsals scared them. She also said that she could not rebel against them because it was their conditioning.
