Exclusive: Sumukhi Suresh Opens Up About Body Shaming On Social Media By Men: “They Call Me A Buffalo…”

One of the funniest and the most brave stand-up comedian and content creators in India is Sumukhi Suresh. The comedian is always the one to speak about women empowerment and body positivity. Sadly, the ones who know how to live life on their own terms are the ones who get massive hate online. During an exclusive chat with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, Sumukhi opened up about the body shaming as well as sl*t shaming she receives in her comment section by men.

Sumukhi Suresh On Being Body Shamed Online

During the exclusive chat, the comedian opened up about the disturbing harassment by men. She said, “In my case, they stare at me, and then deny the crime by saying ‘We don’t stare at fat girls’ because they are so confused. Please check out my comment section on social media, because half of the boys have the audacity to call me names like buffalo who will kill me by sitting on me. I always say why are you imagining me in that manner anyway?”

Sharing her experience she elaborated, “So many times when I am standing and I’ve turned, the boys’ eyes have been on my ass and they give excuses like oh something fell down. And I always say, ‘What did your opinion drop?'” This is so sad, but so many girls experience this. Unsolicited staring can cause major mental pressure, leading women to take extreme steps like changing their way of dressing or maybe changing the route or themselves. Sumukhi Suresh talking about such things bravely gives us hope to answer back with some sass ourselves!
