Many senior female actresses have spoken about the problem of ageism in the film industry and the roles. However, with the coming OTT, they also believe that this barrier has been filled to a lot of extent. In the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, The Broken News 2 star Sonali Bendre also spoke about ageism and shared her honest opinions on the same.
What Did Sonali Bendre Say On Ageism Existing In The Film Industry
The Broken News 2 actor Sonali Bendre in her conversation with Siddhaarth Aalambayan said, “Back in the day when I did films, the roles were quite appropriate for my age. It was all about first. But there have been films when it was not about the age or the first love. Since I started so young, there have been social media now which has posts comparing actors from “Then vs Now”, and I realise it is so different, but it is going to be different. Because of that, I mention age, otherwise there is no need to mention it. If I had entered the film industry now, I would not have given the reference. I wanted to play the character for the age that I was.”
Sonali Bendre reminisced about her old days as an actor, and how big it was for her to make it big as an actor because she came from a non-film background. Talking about her comeback in films and series, she said, “Now when I want to be back, so now it’s a choice, and I want to be myself and the age that I am.”
Sonali Bendre also urged women to be proud of their looks, age and beauty. She said, “Who says after a certain age you’re not good-looking? I think I am very good-looking at my age, and I want to live and celebrate that.”
