Sonakshi Sinha has finally shared the story of how she introduced her now-husband, Zaheer Iqbal, to her parents. In an exclusive conversation with Hauterrfly, the Dahaad actress revealed that while her mother, Poonam Sinha, was the first to know about her relationship, she was initially hesitant to tell her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha.
Sonakshi Sinha Was Scared Of Her Dad
Sonakshi admitted that she was nervous about breaking the news to her father. Despite their close bond, discussing relationships had always been something she felt more comfortable doing with her mother. She explained, “I was very scared to go tell my dad that I am dating Zaheer and I want to marry him. My mom had built it up, and she knew first. My dad had some inkling, and I always assumed my mom would tell him because I told her first. I thought she’d make my life easier, but she did not. She said, ‘Tumhari baat hai, tum jaake bolo.’”
This unexpected response left Sonakshi with no choice but to have the conversation herself. She even tried to delegate the responsibility to Zaheer. “I went to Zaheer and said, ‘You tell him,’” she recalled. However, Zaheer had already spoken to his own father and encouraged Sonakshi to do the same.

Surprising Reaction From Shatrughan Sinha
Despite her apprehension, Sonakshi was left stunned by her father’s reaction when she finally gathered the courage to tell him. “I sat my father down and said some things, and then my father shocked me. He was so calm. He said, ‘You’re a grown woman, he’s a grown man, you’re both happy with each other, that’s all that matters. You’ve made your decision, I am with you, please go ahead. I would love to meet the boy.’”
Following their conversation, Zaheer officially met Shatrughan Sinha, marking a significant step in their relationship. “Zaheer came and met him, and I was just shocked. I had so many things going on in my head,” Sonakshi added, reflecting on how smoothly things unfolded in the end.
