Soha Ali Khan On Films Being Labelled As Female-Oriented
Soha Ali Khan opened up about her experiences on film sets. She recalled how, for years, she and her hairdresser, Bharti, were often the only women present. “For ages, Bharti, who’s been my hairdresser for 20 years, and I used to be the only women on set,” she said.
Over time, things have changed. She further talked about seeing more women on set. Women are now taking on jobs like cinematographers and even gaffers, which are rare for them. Despite this progress, Soha Ali Khan added that women remain under-represented. “But still, a long way to go. Even now, a lot of times, you will see yourself as a minority. In boardrooms, script meetings, or casting sessions.”
The actor also stated that she feels frustrated that films with strong female characters are labelled as “female-led” or “female-orientated”. She questioned this, saying, “When men promote a film, no one says that this is a male-led cast. There’s no need to say that.”
