Reem Shaikh On Her Face Burns

During the exclusive chat, Reem Shaikh opened up about how her scars were up until her eyes and how it scared her. She said, “After the incident, I went to the doctor and he told me the scars might never leave. When it happened also, I kept my eyes closed because I was scared of the syrup coming into my eyes. Then people came with water, and then Bharti Singh told me she removed a chunk of syrup from my eyes.”

She continued, “A million thoughts were running in my mind. I was thinking what if I lost my eyesight, my career, I hadn’t even gotten married. The next day when I woke up, that side of my face was swollen. That was one time I looked into the mirror and I cried about what’s next in life.”

But this didn’t scare her, Shaikh opened up about how she came out of it so beautifully. In her words, “When I was thinking about why this happened to me, I remembered something beautiful which was written in the Quran. It said, ‘God only burdens you with things which you can bear. So, if something happened, that means he has also given us the strength to cope with it.'”

Reem also acknowledged her privilege while dealing with this stuff. She said, “So many women go through much worse things like acid attacks. And they don’t even have the money to go through the treatment. I still had the option of going to a plastic surgeon if the scars didn’t heal, but so many people don’t have that. So that’s where I felt blessed.”
