Exclusive: Neha Dhupia: “As A Mother, I Feel I Am Not Delegating Enough, Men Are Capable Too…”

Women are better at parenting than men; well, there will be a range of opinions around this. However, things are changing with time, and men are trying to shoulder equal responsibilities when it comes to raising a child. We sat down for an exclusive conversation with the cast of Single Papa, a Netflix series starring Kunal Kemmu, Prajakta Koli, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa, and Ayesha Raza. We were curious to know if, like her character, Neha Dhupia also believed that women have an edge over parenting. Here’s what she said.

Neha Dhupia said, “I think the ability to multitask is one thing that gives them the edge. I wouldn’t say that men can’t do as much.  If left in this situation, that you’re a single dad, and my husband and I co-parent our children, and there’s nothing that I’m capable of that he’s not, and he’s capable of that I’m not.”

Neha Dhupia also stressed on the importance of delegating work. She said, “I don’t know if you’ve seen that image nowadays on Instagram, and this whole thing where you have the washing machine also, and then you have a laptop, also. That image of those multiple hands and this woman trying to do so much. To be able to do all of it at once, maybe that’s the slight edge, but if you leave it alone to the dad, I’m pretty sure that they can do it. And also they’ve taken on the onus that we’ll do it. Are we willing to let go? I think that somewhere where I feel very tired at the end of the day as a mother of two, it’s also because I’m not delegating enough.” She added, “If we start letting go, we delegate, maybe somewhere there also, we start finding our own balance.”

Single Papa is a series that revolves around a manchild who wants to adopt a kid, and take entire responsibility of the child. The show deals with a lot of stereotypes around adoption, single dad, and more. It’s currently streaming on Netflix. Have you watched it?
