Neelam Kothari On Getting Botox Done
Neelam explained that the idea to film the procedure came naturally during the production of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. When the show’s creatives asked if they could document her experience, she had no hesitation. For her, sharing this moment was about transparency and helping other women. She acknowledged that while these procedures may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no shame in enhancing one’s appearance if it makes one feel confident. She said, “I think It was the first time on Indian television that any woman had done a procedure for the camera, I think I owned it because what’s the big deal you know everyone’s doing something or the other and I was part of a reality show this was the first time I was planning to do a filler and botox and told the creatives of the show Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives, if they wanted to cover it and they were like hell yeah, they were like will you allow us, I was like why not.”
Neelam also shared her perspective on the benefits of being open about such treatments. She mentioned that when she admires a woman of a certain age looking fabulous, she often wishes they’d share their beauty secrets, including their doctor’s details or the treatments they’ve tried. Neelam shared, when I see a woman of a certain age looking great I mean I wish she would share her doctor’s number with me and I wish she would tell me what treatments she is doing because you can help another woman and I feel that there’s nothing wrong, it may not be for everyone.”
The actress believes that in a world where beauty standards are constantly evolving, it’s important to embrace self-care in whatever form feels right. While cosmetic enhancements may not appeal to everyone, Neelam emphasises the value of choice and empowerment.
