From Aashiqui 2 to Fitoor, Aditya Roy Kapur has a knack for playing characters who are a bit broken-hearted and wounded. Audiences love his performance and often feel relatable to his portrayals. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, the actor shared thoughts on why he’s often chosen for or drawn to these kinds of intense roles. So, read on to know all about it.
Aditya Roy Kapur Opens Up On Intense Roles
On being asked, why does he gravitate towards such characters? Aditya Roy Kapur said, “I think, why do those characters gravitate towards me? That is the question. I think it’s been a while since I’ve done any drinking on screen. I think those two films, Jawaani Diwaani and Ashiqui, had me drinking. And they were both released in the same month. And they both kind of found an audience. So I guess that kind of stuck for a while.
But yeah, it’s been a while. Definitely, but there are a bunch of roles I’ve done that are intense. That are intense even without drinking. I mean, Night Manager was an intense one. It was a guy with a lot of baggage and all that.”

He further added, “But luckily with this one (Metro In Dino), that was the nice and interesting thing for me. That I got the chance to play a character that didn’t have all that… …intensity and hyper emotion. It was just a kind of normal guy. Chilling. Going with the flow. Enjoying his life. Experiencing life. And not being too intense was a nice thing.”
Lastly, he added, “As an actor also, it’s important. That you don’t keep doing the same kind of… You want to bounce from one genre to the other. To keep it interesting for yourself.”
For the unversed, he was recently seen in Metro In Dino directed by Anurag Basu.
