Exclusive: Killer Soup Star Konkona Sen Sharma Loves Open-Ended Climax, Manoj Bajpayee Says “It Makes Audience Think”
True that Sir!

The recently released series Killer Soup directed by Abhishek Chaubey left us intrigued with an open-ended climax. For some of us, Swathi (Konkona Sen Sharma) and Umesh Pillai (Manoj Bajpyee) continued to live there ever after, while others were convinced that they were dead. During a recent chat with the cast. I asked the two lead actors about their take on films or series which have open endings and also their reaction to Killer Soup’s ending.

Konkona Sen Sharma Loves Open-Ended Films/Series
Talking about the ending of her series Killer Soup, Konkona Sen Sharma said, “So I knew from the very beginning about the climax of it, and actually I wasn’t much concerned about the ending. Also, I love open-ended things because it is open to interpretation. I have also done films of similar nature like the 15th Black Avenue. Also, I love it because it is fiction, and there are very few places in life and art where you can transcend these because we are so tethered with time and space.” Sharing her thoughts on whether the audience can appreciate open-ended climaxes over the definite ones, Konkona said, “Only if we all knew what the audience wants and want they don’t.”

Manoj Bajpayee Thinks Open-Endings Are Beautiful
The lead actor of Killer Soup Manoj Bajpayee also shed his thoughts on the debatable ending of his comedy-drama series. The actor said, “Let the audience have their own interpretation, let them weave their own story from here because they are so used to watching definite endings. People talking about it, even my friends asking me about the ending only proves that they are thinking about the show, and it’s always a great thing.”Manoj Bajpayee also put forth his views on Umesh and Swathi’s ending and said, “It is so beautifully open-ended. You can actually imagine a life after for those two characters and if you are convinced that they are no more, that also makes you weave another story.”
