Becoming a mom for the first time can be challenging on a female body due to the many changes the body goes through. From birthing a child to feeding them while being hormonal can be a challenge. And in a recent conversation with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, actor Mahhi Vij opened up about her struggles with breastfeeding after giving birth to her daughter Tara with Jay Bhanushali.

Mahhi Vij On Breastfeeding

Mahhi Vij welcomed her first biological daughter, Tara, through IVF. She revealed that she went through trouble with breastfeeding. She said, “My body didn’t produce as much milk as it used to, 1 ml or 2 ml. One night that I ate mutton, I got 5 ml, which is why Jay told me to eat more. One night, a Marwadi couple was going through the same, so the husband told his wife to also eat Mutton and promised he wouldn’t tell anyone.”

She continued, “Tara was a 30-week baby, so your body is not prepared in 7 months. So, the doctors used to recommend really painful breast pumps. So this process went on until the doctor realised that Tara wasn’t latching properly when it came to feeding. The doctor also got me a special pump only for the nipple, which made it bleed sometimes. They used to recommend creams because you have to repeat this process tomorrow. But I had no other option but to do it.

The child wants milk every two hours, so there’s no time for the mom to sleep. When the child sleeps, the mom also has 1000 things to do. So, the first year of raising a child is very difficult.”
