Juhi Parmar On Facing Divorce Stigma
During the conversation when our host Siddharth Alambayan asked Juhi Parmar whether she ever faced the stigma of divorce.Juhi Parmar said at one point there was a time when it used to hurt her so much than others. Like openly mujhse kisi ne nahi kaha, lekin han social media ek aisa platform hai jispe log pyaar bhi barsaatein hai aur ap pe keher bhi barsaatein hai.” She highlighted the harsh reality of social media whereby people just judge without a second thought. “When people wrote or said things about my personality or whatever, it felt like I must be a strong-headed person or something. It made me wonder, do people have the right to judge me?”
Despite their unpleasantness, these judgments are now water under the bridge for Parmar. “I think I am over that stage now. I don’t look at these judgements as something which defines me, because that does not define me,” she asserted. Parmar emphasized on self-acceptance and self-love being key. “I see the pride in my daughter’s and parents’ eyes, and that is what matters.” To those still holding her divorce against her, Parmar said, “If anybody else wants to think anything different about me just because there’s something called divorce that happened to me, well, I pity your shallow thinking. That’s all I can say.”
