Jyotika On Doing Srikanth
When asked about her hiatus from Hindi cinema since her last film in 1996, Jyotika explained that the absence was not a deliberate choice but rather a consequence of limited opportunities in the Hindi film industry. Despite her success in South Indian cinema, she awaited the right script and opportunity to make a Hindi comeback. Jyotika revealed that her decision to sign Srikanth was independent of any external influence, including her husband, actor Suriya. Contrary to speculation, Surya played no role in convincing her to take up the project. Emphasizing her autonomy in career decisions, Jyotika affirmed that while Suriya may appreciate a script, the final decision always rests with her. She said, “That’s not true. He doesn’t convince me for anything. He takes his calls, I take mine. Of course, he was also very impressed with the script.”
