Kumkum actor, Juhi Parmar in the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist wore her heart out on her sleeves while talking about the burden of expectations on women. She spoke about what many of us feel but do not say aloud: the soaring expectations for women today. Juhi revealed that these days have become demanding for women compared to in the past; meaning female homemakers are never enough anymore. Juggling between roles and societal unrealistic demands on women was among the things that she talked about, giving an honest perspective.
Juhi Parman On The Exceeding Expectations For Women
Juhi shared “One thing has remained unchanged from the very beginning men expect from women. There are increasing everyday expectations made on them. In earlier times, the woman was mainly supposed to be only a housewife. But today if she even happens to be only at home, they want her to go out and work too. And all such things must also be done by her.”
She stressed how many tasks women are expected to handle concurrently stating, “Women carry too much responsibilities upon them. I recently did a reel for Women’s Day where I showed these stereotypes. I said ‘I Am Woman’ It referred to every aspect mentioned being about our stereotypes and that we as ladies are expected according to those stereotypes,” Some people commented “Oh you think you’re multitalented.’ But my point was that I am not multitalented but it is expected out of me.”
She drew attention to some inequalities in several homes.“In almost all houses shift worker is a common feature both man and woman work inside their houses as well as outside . The man will come back washes himself off then asks,” what’s for dinner?’ At the same time when the lady enters the house, without even sitting down for two minutes, she starts preparing supper because if she sits down here won’t stand up again because she is already so tired.” She also shed light on how expectations change depending on where you are. “The situation is much better in metro cities, but in small towns, it’s way worse,” she indicated a dire need for a shift in thinking across the nation.
