Exclusive: Huma Qureshi Reveals If She Ever Faced Casting Couch: “Haan Badtameez Log…”

Finding a woman who hasn’t been subjected to male gaze, assault or harassment is like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s sad to wrap our heads around the fact that women have been sexualised since their childhoods. Things do not change when they grow up and enter the workforce. Sadly, they face s*xism or are asked for s*xual favours in order to get the job or a promotion. In the entertainment industry they call it “casting couch.” Many actors have come out and spoken about their experiences during the #MeToo movement. But the question remains: Have things changed since then? Huma Qureshi, who starred in Delhi Crime season 3, recently appeared on The Male Feminist and spoke about her experience with host Siddhaarth Aalambayan.
Huma Qureshi Reveals If She Has Ever Faced The Casting Couch
When host Siddhaarth Aalambayan asked Huma Qureshi if she had ever faced casting couch, she revealed, “Haan badtameez toh log hote hai.” (Some people are disrespectful). The actress clarified that these things do not happen only in the entertainment industry. Huma shared, “The problems that women face in their daily lives or in a corporate job, females from the entertainment industry also face them.”
Further, the Gangs Of Wasseypur star shared that whenever a fan asks her for a picture, she never declines their request. The actress added, “Not just men but women also; they just touch you and they don’t realise. Maybe they’re excited or whatever it is but I am still a person; I am still a girl.” She expressed that they shouldn’t put their hands on her waist as it doesn’t feel good. Huma added that they do not have to touch her when she clicks a picture with them. She acknowledged that it must be coming from “love” but some people take advantage of this. The actress added that as a reflex action, she uses her elbow to resist it.

Huma Qureshi’s Work Front
Huma Qureshi has definitely had a busy year. She appeared in two shows titled Maharani S4 and Delhi Crime S3 and has played very pivotal roles in both projects. Talking about the latter show, Huma played a negative character and bringing in that conviction wasn’t an easy task. The actress is being praised for her work on the show. We admire her journey!
