Yet, for Richa, the ordeal wasn’t merely about the number of takes or the physical exertion. It was about meeting the director’s expectations and not wanting to disappoint him. Richa expressed a sentiment of nostalgia for a time when such pampering was not the norm, contrasting it with the present-day scenario where actors are surrounded by a support system that attends to their comfort and well-being at every turn. She had said, “They’re all very coddled. You know, if an actor has to sit in water, there’ll be like 20 ADs checking the temperature. If someone has to rehearse, they’ll be like, Do you need anything? Do you need juice? Do you need this and that? And then, then you meet a guy who is caring in those aspects.” The experience proved to be humbling for Chadha, underscoring the need for actors to set aside their egos and remain receptive to feedback and direction.
