In an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly, actor Harshvardhan Rane reflected on the overwhelming love Sanam Teri Kasam has received upon its re-release. While he acknowledged the collective effort of everyone involved in the film, he emphasized the vital role of music dorector Himesh Reshammiya’s music in shaping the film’s emotional impact.
Harshvardhan Rane On Sanam Teri Kasam
Originally released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam was a romantic drama that won audiences over with its heartbreaking love story and soul-stirring music. While the film did not achieve commercial success initially, its re-release in February 2025 has brought it a second life, with fans celebrating its emotional depth and memorable soundtrack.
Speaking about the film’s journey, Harshvardhan Rane shared, “A film is a combination of too many, too many energies. How do I put it? First, it’s a thought in a director’s head, then they sketch the character, then they build a world. After that, the producer has to be sold on that idea and invest his hard-earned money. Then you have to get actors, actors have to see the same vision. There are 120 more people who all have to be on the same page. So imagine the level of complexity, the number of variables involved.”
He explained that this is the reason why recreating a film’s success is nearly impossible, as every film is a unique result of numerous factors aligning perfectly.
Harshvardhan Rane on Himesh Reshammiya’s Contribution
While Rane credited everyone involved in the making of Sanam Teri Kasam, he had a special mention for Himesh Reshammiya, who composed the film’s iconic soundtrack. Comparing a film to a family, he said, “The credit goes to the father of a film, who brings the vegetables to the house, that is the producer. The mother of the film has the recipe and cooks the food, that is the director. And then, there is always someone elderly in the house who feeds the child, who nurtures its soul.”
For Sanam Teri Kasam, that nurturing figure was Himesh Reshammiya. “Himesh Reshammiya sir has fed this emotion into our souls through his music,” Rane stated, emphasizing how the film’s soundtrack played a crucial role in connecting with audiences.
