Feminism is one such word that receives so much hate due to preconceived notions and now it’s high time to change that. In an exclusive conversation with Hauterrfly, actress Esha Deol shared her thoughts on feminism, the importance of teaching children about respect, and how times are changing for women. Esha Deol touched up on points of how feminism should be used to empower people and not to manipulate and go into the victim mentality.
Esha Deol On Feminism
During a conversation with The Male Feminist host, Siddhaarth Aalambayan Esha Deol asked about teaching the concept of good touch and bad touch to children, the actor emphasized the importance of educating not only daughters but also sons. She explained, “We often focus on teaching our daughters, but it’s equally important for parents of sons to instil respect for women from a young age. It’s crucial to make them understand the value of a woman.” She stressed that while respect is essential, glorification is not necessary. “I’m not saying glorify women don’t glorify us, but give us the respect we deserve.”
Esha Deol also pointed out that feminism should not be about using one’s power to manipulate or victimize. “As women, we should not misuse our power by going into victim mode and manipulating others. Instead, we should use our inner strength to grow and inspire others in a positive way, without demeaning anyone,” she said.

Esha Deol reflected on how societal rules and norms have evolved over time, particularly for women. “There’s been immense change, and women are evolving. Today, women don’t feel the need to depend on others, they’re standing on their own,” she added. Her message was clear: respect for women should be rooted in equality and understanding, not in elevating them to unrealistic or glorified standards.
