Exclusive: Dhvani Bhanushali Opens Up On Auto-Tune Allegations, Viral Farah Khan Video: “I Was Insanely Sick…”

Dhvani Bhanushali took over the internet with her hit songs like ‘Vaaste’, ‘Leja Re’ and more. The singer appeared in the videos and netizens hailed her as India’s rising pop sensation. But soon things took a turn. The singer faced criticism after people accused her of relying on auto-tune following a viral video. Now, in an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, she addressed the auto-tune claims and that awkward clip with Farah Khan. So, read on!

The debate over auto-tune revolves around many singers today. So, the host asked how she tackles it, since trolls keep targeting her for it. She responded with a light laugh, “Yeah. Making me popular.” The host further asked, “But really, is that all? Because they bring back the Farah Khan video all the time.”

In response, the singer shared a heartwarming story next. She said, “She came to my house the other day and did her first segment with me. And she’s such a lovely person. I loved interacting with her.”

Many fans may not recall the full story behind that clip. A video went viral from an IIFA Awards event. Dhvani and Farah were there, and the singer started singing the song ‘Vaaste’. After a few seconds, Farah placed her hand on Dhvani’s back, and she stopped singing. Following which, trolls mocked her voice and stated that she heavily uses auto-tune.

Furthermore, she also set things straight and addressed the viral video. “I’ll tell you exactly. I don’t know how many people will hear this. I’m not going to clarify it again. So that whole thing has happened. And I was insanely sick. Four dolos down. I don’t know why I sang there and it wasn’t that bad. Then some idiot put an autotune on it. In a lot of places, it’s modified. So, they made it worse. I’m not saying it was the best performance. I’m not saying that. I was sick. It probably was my low moment. But people have just made it worse. And they’re selling it. They’ll put it up. And then they’ll laugh at me. And I’m like, yeah, okay. At least you’re selling yourself on my name.”
