Exclusive: Bhakshak Star Bhumi Pednekar Shares Her First Period Story: “My Father Threw A Party…”

As women, we are always conditioned to talk about periods with only our mothers, that too in a hush-hush manner. However, it was really good to hear from Bhakshak’s Bhumi Pednekar that her father was the first person to buy her the first pack of sanitary napkins. She made this revelation on the recent episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist and also called her father a “Male Feminist”.

Bhakshak star Bhumi Pednekar graced the new episode of The Male Feminist and had an insightful chat with the host Sidharth Aalambayan. The actress spoke about her first period and revealed that in the absence of her mother, it was her father who bought her her first sanitary napkin. Bhumi Pednekar shared her first-period story, “The day I got my periods, my mom wasn’t home and I was crying and howling like the world had come to an end for me. My father then got my first sanitary pad and he handheld me through the entire process.” Furthermore, Bhumi also shared that her father threw a grand party the next day to celebrate his daughter’s first period. She said, “The next day there was a party thrown for me because he was like it’s a big moment for my daughter.” Bhumi Pednekar also spoke about how her father took care of her when she struggled with period pain. She said, “I would wake up to my father messaging my feet, he would prepare hot bottled water for more.”

Bhumi Pednekar also said that it is a kind of privilege to have such men in someone’s life. The Bhakshak actress also revealed that she grew up in a household where gender roles were not defined. Check out the whole video here-
