Often we have heard about how people in power behave with actresses on set, or during casting scenes. Many of them have come forward and spoken about the verbal abuse they hear from their directors. During an exclusive chat with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, popular actress Avneet Kaur spoke about an incident where the director verbally abused her when she was 11 years old.
Avneet Kaur On Director’s Abused
During the exclusive chat, Avneet Kaur said, “There was this one incident from the time when I was struggling, and it really scared me. I was just starting out, and this director gave me a very heavy monologue with heavy words, which I had to say. Now, I was very scared, because I was 11 or 12, and I fumbled 2-3 times, which is when he switched on his mic and started speaking harshly. He said that I wasn’t capable of doing anything and that I would never succeed in this industry. He even abused me verbally.”
She continued, “I was very confused because my parents were not allowed on set. I went to my parents and told them everything and my self-confidence broke as an actor. After that I got to know that he was doing the same thing to other actresses also, like big names, he did the same with them.” This sounds so scary, as a girl, and a young teenager, these things stay with you. And the director yelling at his female actors in front of everyone is just plain unfair.
