Exclusive: Anshula Kapoor Opens About Parents Boney Kapoor, Mona Shourie Kapoor’s Separation: “People Started…”

We all know how vital parents are to one while growing up, they are the first teachers we have and when they get separated, it’s never easy for the children to watch. Growing up with a similar experience, Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie Kapoor’s separation wasn’t easy on Anshula Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. In an exclusive chat with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Anshula Kapoor talked about growing up with her mom and her parent’s separation.

Anshula Kapoor On Growing Up

During the chat, Anshula Kapoor was asked about her growing-up experience, to which she replied, “Growing up had its lovely and not-so-lovely moments, but Mom made sure we had a well-rounded and secure childhood. Having said that, we were never lied to and were always given the truth. One thing I appreciated while growing up was that she always treated me as an intelligent child. She was never like ‘Oh we have to protect her.'”

She continued, “So whether it was conversations about behaving in public with younger or older people, or the changes my body will go through, we used to have all conversations. She was the best parent I could have always wanted because I was shy and introverted. I was a big body and a tall child, plus in the 90s when your parents separated, nobody knew what was happening.”

Talking further about her parents’ divorce, Anshula Kapoor added, “It was considered a big thing and all then everything was directed towards family values. People started questioning their upbringing. So I was in my shell trying to figure out what this new life was and what the new normal was.” This was such an insightful conversation because parents’ separation has always had a strong effect on the children especially when the situation isn’t handled well.
