Every coin has two sides to it and while we want to look at the positives, the negatives cannot be ignored. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) brings some similar concerns and threats. And this is especially because of some corrupted minds who use technology to create deepfakes of actresses to stain their image. During a candid conversation with the Video Cam Scam star Amruta Khanvilkar, I got to discuss this raging issue for women. The actress gave a very thought-provoking response to the question.
Amruta Khanvilkar On Cases Of Deepfakes
During a conversation with us, I asked Video Cam Scam star Amruta Khanvilkar about her opinions on the rising cases of deepfakes citing the recent examples of Rashmika Mandanna and Alia Bhatt. Amruta raised a concern and said, “Why do we talk about this only when it happens with an A-lister or person related to the Entertainment industry? I am sure many more cases are happening in the small cities and villages which lead to a person taking drastic steps like suicide. So I think, firstly there shouldn’t be a gender bias in such aspects and secondly it should not be our concern only because it is happening to celebrities. I find that to be hypocrisy because there are many common people out there facing the same kind of issue too, and that should be taken into consideration as well.” Amruta added, “I also believe that our legal system should be stronger while dealing with such cases.”
Amruta Khanvilkar’s co-star Rajniesh Duggall also added to this and shared his experience of meeting a person from the Cyber Cell Department. Recalling their conversation on this, Rajniesh said, “When I met the concerted authority, he told me about the tons of cases that come to the cyber cell department every day, and why it becomes difficult for the authorities to handle each of them individually. The best they do in this case is that they keep deleting the links that they get from the victims.”
