Exclusive: Akshay Oberoi Calls Out Bias Against Women In Bold Roles, “I Hope They Are Treated Fairly And…”
Akshay Oberoi feels women get the bad end of the deal if they ever express desire to do bold scenes in movie!

Akshay Oberoi, known for his roles in movies like Fighter, Kalakandi, and Illegal Season 3, recently opened up about his dedication to his craft, expressing his willingness to go fully nude if a role demanded it. This statement underscores his commitment to acting and his desire to fully immerse himself in his characters. However, during an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly, Akshay Oberoi was asked how he thought the public would react if a female actor made a similar statement and what’s his take on it.
Akshay Oberoi Opens Up On His Take On Bold Scenes
Akshay Oberoi said openly, “I don’t know how it’d be received by a female to say what I said.” However, I have already declared that I would do everything possible to act by saying that even going nude is not out of bounds. In other words, I wish people knew how much I submit myself fully to roles. In terms of cameras, I never experience any phobia or shyness. But when the camera is on its still action…then cut…I can play any character.

He also contemplated what could happen if women actors similarly declared such things. “I would hope that a female could make this statement and could prove how much they love to act and how much they want to surrender themselves to the filmmaker and to the role as I did and be treated fairly. But you’re right, I don’t know that we live in a system that would allow for that. I think a female would get trolled more, which is unfair. And I acknowledge that and thank you for asking that.”
This response from Oberoi brings forth issues related to gender-based double standards inherent within the entertainment industry about perceptions of risky choices made by actors. The thing is that while male actors can talk about their dedication through making statements about nudity; females face tougher judgment calls and greater criticisms at them. That reveals the real problem relating to this industry and society that should be resolved by showing women acting in the same way as their male counterparts.
Akshay Oberoi Work Front
On the work front, Akshay Oberoi was last seen in Sidharth Anand’s Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. His latest venture is Jio Cinema’s Illegal Season 3, which also stars Neha Sharma and Piyush Mishra in lead roles. Other than that he has also been cast in an undisclosed role in Shashank Khaitan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.
