Everything The Summer I Turned Pretty Cast Shared About The Show’s Bittersweet Farewell

Jenny Han’s hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty is coming to its conclusion with the finale episode. The show has divided the world into Team Jeremiah and Team Conrad, and the war is real. Although the show is based on the book trilogy, filmmakers have teased that the ending might not be the same. Although the finale is out, here’s what Han and the film’s cast said about the ending. The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Ending

1. Sean Kaufman’s Words

Sean Kaufman, aka Steven Conklin, told PEOPLE that the episodes would just get crazier. Though he still steered away from giving any spoilers to the fans.

2. Han To ‘Surprise’ Fans

Although the Prime Video series is based on Han’s book series of the same name, she has added surprises to keep viewers on their toes. “I feel strongly about wanting the audience to have the experience of not knowing what’s going to happen next … even though I know that others are probably restless to see how it all ends.”

3. Book’s Epilogue Was Changed

As the season 3 episodes aired, many fans were stunned to learn that the epilogue, just a few chapters from her third book, We’ll Always Have Summer, comprised the series’ last three episodes. However, Han stated that as she was developing the television show, she always wanted to build on Belly’s story.

One of the major modifications Han made to the production was to relocate Belly to Paris rather than Spain, as she did in the novel. Han also stated that she “always loved the idea of a girl going to find herself in Paris and fall in love.”

4. A Hopeful Ending

While Han has remained tight-lipped about plot elements in all of her interviews, she has stated that as a young adult novelist, she favours a more “hopeful” ending, but one that is not entirely straightforward.

5. What Lola Tung Said

Lola Tung told E! that everybody at some point throughout the show, throughout all three seasons, will be a little bit heartbroken. Although the finale may not be what every fan had hoped for, she hopes everyone is “satisfied” with it.
