Many Bollywood celebrities have faced a million judgements that tell them what they should and should not, do to make it big in the industry. Something similar happened with actress Gauahar Khan, who spoke her mind and revealed a few secrets. In the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, Khan revealed how she faced many judgements during her early days in the industry. Speaking about a few, she mentioned how people also judge you if you’re not cast as a leading lady opposite someone.

She mentioned how she went past this norm in the first ever film and never thought it was a big deal to lead the film or not. Khan also revealed how many people including her friends and family, suggested she not sign the film–Rocket Singh until she gets to play the lead opposite Ranbir Kapoor. And mentioned how it was a perception. She further said, “People believed that if you’re not opposite someone, then you’re not the star of the film. But the way Rocket Singh turned out for me, is something I don’t have to prove.”

Khan also added, “When I read the script, I found that the character she was offered was the only one having the most impact on the screenplay because there is so much happening with this group.” She also mentioned how often actors are bracketed and boxed into stereotypes. Khan feels it is in the hands of the actors to change that mould and it sure takes a lot of courage, which she definitely has done.

Furthermore, Khan revealed how many people often judged her looks and said she could not do Hindi films because she didn’t have a “Hindi film face.” In this exclusive chat with host–Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Gauahar opened up about her life as an actor, embracing motherhood, feminism and more.
