The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards unfolded with great excitement on September 16 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, marking a stellar evening for the television industry. This year’s ceremony highlighted an eclectic mix of winners across genres, with FX’s historical drama Shogun making a significant impact by securing four awards, including the coveted Outstanding Drama Series award. The Japan-set series also claimed top honours in categories like Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, and Best Directing, making it a dominant force at this year’s Emmys.

In the comedy genre, however, Hacks took centre stage by winning the Outstanding Comedy Series award, surprising many who had their bets on The Bear to win. While The Bear didn’t grab the top prize, its star Jeremy Allen White continued his winning streak, securing the Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series award. Co-stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colon-Zayas also contributed to the show’s success, winning Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively. At the same time, Christopher Storer took home the Emmy for Best Directing in Comedy.

The night also saw major wins for Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, which won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and garnered the Best Lead Actor award for Richard Gadd. Gadd’s gripping performance made him a standout in a highly competitive category. Jodie Foster, known for her legendary performances, added another accolade to her illustrious career, winning Best Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role in True Detective: Night Country.
