Popular singer Ed Sheeran is currently on his India tour and on February 8, the British singer decided to do an impromptu performance at Bengaluru’s iconic Church Street. This performance was ahead of his scheduled concert at the NICE Grounds. While fans were jamming on the road to the singer’s melodious voice, this was interrupted by the local officials due to lack of of permission for such gathering.
Ed Sheeran’s Performance Stopped In Bengaluru
Videos of Ed Sheeran performing on the streets of Bengaluru went viral on social media. While the police officials had to stop the performance, many fans expressed their disappointment over a lost opportunity to hear the singer. The Bengaluru City Police clarified that even though they had immense respect for the singer and his contributions, a large gathering required prior authorisation to ensure the safety and order.
According to an official, “Our primary concern is the safety of both the artist and the public. Unauthorized gatherings can pose significant challenges in crowd management and security.” While many understood this step taken by the officials, others were disappointed with their take. One user commented, “Police will stop everything in the name of encroachment but cannot manage crime in there area.”

As part of his “+-=÷x Tour,” Ed Sheeran came in Bengaluru. He had shows at NICE Grounds on February 8 and 9, 2025. His chart-topping albums served as the inspiration for the tour, which had created a great deal of excitement among his fans and promised a set list full of international songs.
