In a recent turn of events, Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi has revealed the crossover of the year after she said that Ed Sheeran watched Gangs of Wasseypur and loved it. During a recent chat, she recalled how the singer spoke highly of her film when they met in Mumbai. She said they met at a party hosted by Farah Khan during his visit to India. During her chat on Prakhar Gupta’s podcast, Huma Qureshi said that it was her ‘ultimate flex’ to get a compliment about Gangs of Wasseypur from Ed Sheeran. She said, ” And I was like, what? Have you watched Gangs of Wasseypur? Farah Khan had hosted a party for Ed Sheeran when he was in Mumbai, and everyone met him there. I was trying to have a conversation with him, and he was very sweet. He said, I love your country, and I would love to do music here.”
Huma shared that she nudged Ed Sheeran to dive deeper into Indian cinema, recommending Gangs of Wasseypur as a must-watch for its colourful language and storytelling. As he was about to leave, he paused, surprised to learn she was part of the film. He mentioned that he and his team had already watched it and genuinely loved it, even calling his manager over in the moment. The exchange left Huma amused and pleasantly taken aback, calling it a pretty cool experience.
Gangs of Wasseypur, directed by Anurag Kashyap and co-written with Zeishan Quadri, is still one of the most celebrated films in Indian cinema.
