In just over two weeks, Squid Game, the well-known mystery thriller K-drama that swept the globe, will return for its third season. The season will be available to stream on Netflix on June 27, 2025. And while this season marks the end of the story for the current main characters, fans can’t help but wonder if it really will be the conclusion of the show’s protagonist, Seong Gihun, or if there is more left of his story. What Did Director Hwang Dong-hyuk Say About Season 4 Of Squid Game

During a recent press conference, Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk was asked if he still does not want to go ahead with the fourth season of the show. According to Korean media publication ChosunBiz, the director gave a firm reply to the question by saying that he does not plan a new season after the current one. This was the part of the discussion that he had with Netflix, the company producing the show, while shooting for season 3.

However, the good news is that even if Hwang Dong-hyuk turned down the possibility of season 4 happening, he talked about other Squid Game-related projects that may be made. He said that if the opportunity arises, he is open to exploring the idea of a spin-off. He said there are many characters in the series whose backstories have not been explored as extensively as the main cast, so it would be interesting to get to know them more in spin-off shows.

Season 3 of Squid Game will pick up where Season 2 left off. According to the teaser, Gi-hun is shown returning to the game in a coffin. In classic Squid Game fashion, to survive and win the prize money, the player has to play new, dangerous games like jump rope and a brutal maze.
