Monalisa, a garland seller at Maha Kumbh Mela became an overnight internet sensation and also got a film. However, some controversies around it have recently made headlines. The film’s director Sanoj Mishra has filed an FIR against 5 people including a YouTuber with allegations that they were trying to defame the film that Monalisa is also a part of. What Happened?
As per news reports, director Sanoj Mishra has filed an FIR against 5 people including a YouTuber for allegedly spreading the negative word about his film that also features Monalisa. As per a PTI report, Sanoj Mishra claimed that the 5 people had attempted to stop his film and defame him. The FIR was filed at the Amboli Police Station in Mumbai. As per news reports, there are some serious allegations against the 5 people in the FIR and one of the claims made by Sanoj Mishra was also that the men allegedly spoke about the film’s budget and that none of Sanoj Mishra’s films had ever released which could hamper the young girl’s career as well.
Sanoj Mishra also told the police that the 5 people were spreading misinformation about him and his film with Monalisa. He also claimed that the men did not want his film The Diary of Manipur to be made.

For the unversed, Monalisa was a garland seller from Madhya Pradesh who went viral on the internet after a video of her was shared from the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. Another haunting video also did rounds on social media where some men were seen harassing her, and the young woman’s family immediately saved her from the crowd. Reportedly, she was later sent home amid concerns. Now, Monalisa has been signed up for a film and we hope that goes well for her!
