Popular television actress Dipika Kakar recently underwent a surgery for her stage 2 liver cancer. Since then, she and her husband Shoaib Ibrahim have been giving regular health updates to their fans. And in recent news, he gave shared the process for the second course of treatment. Though Kakar had no cancer cells, but since her tumour was classified as ‘grade three and poorly differentiated,’ it was ‘quite aggressive.’ Shoaib revealed that there were chances of the cancer coming back.
Shoaib Ibrahim On Dipika Kakar’s Cancer
On their YouTube channel, Shoaib Ibrahim said that they previously thought that everything would be okay if the tumour was removed. However, the PET scan and the biopsy reports suggested a rather serious situation. It indicated that the tumour was quite aggressive and there were many chances of it coming back. Shoaib went on to say that there are two approaches of treating liver cancer: immunotherapy (by IV drip) and targeted therapy (oral medications). He also stated that Dipika will begin treatment with oral medications.
The doctor’s prescribed medicine’s dosage would increase if any cancer cells would be detected in the future. The treatment can go for over one or even two years with scans conducted every 3 weeks. Earlier, Dipika Kakar had shared the unfortunate news of her cancer on her Instagram account. She had a second stage Malignant tumour. Last month, she underwent a 14-hour long surgery. She also shared that one of the hardest parts of the surgery was weaning off her son Ruhaan in just one night before the surgery. Though her son was already 2, she never imagined it would happen under such circumstances.
