Racism for Indians abroad has always been a serious issue, and lately, the discrimination is only getting more concerning in the polarised nature of the world in which we currently live. Punjabi superstar actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh recently opened up about his experience with racism that he faced in Australia during his AURA concert and how he reacted to it. Diljit Dosanjh Opens Up About Experiencing Racism In Australia
Diljit Dosanjh recently held a concert in Australia for his ongoing world tour titled AURA. While the show was a massive success, fans were shocked to learn that the Punjabi singer became the target of racist comments when he arrived in Australia. Upon his arrival, Paparazzi posted snaps of Dosanjh online, and the comments on the post were filled with racist remarks.
“Some agencies reported when I landed in Australia. Someone sent me the comments people were making. People said things like, The new Uber driver is here, or the new 7-11 employee has landed. I’ve seen a lot of these racist comments, but I think the world should be one and there should be no borders,” revealed Dosanjh.
Dijit further added that he does not mind being compared to cab or truck drivers; if they cease to exist, none of us will get bread for our homes. He also said that he is not angry and even sends love to those who have said offensive things about him.
With his AURA tour, Diljit Dosanjh became the first Indian artist to sell out a stadium show in Sydney, Australia. The tickets for Diljit’s show were all sold out, with ticket prices rising as high as 800 USD. Diljit’s show was attended by almost 30,000 fans and marked an important milestone for the recognition of Indian music worldwide.
